According to the official announcement from the team, "Edward R. Policy, the Green Bay Packers' chief operating officer and general counsel, has been elected as the organization's next Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO, a position he will formally assume in July of 2025 at the Packers Annual Meeting of Shareholders when Mark Murphy officially retires from the role."

Policy has spent his entire career serving as an executive in the football space. He began back in 2001 as the Deputy Commissioner and President of the Arena Football League and was promoted to Acting Commissioner in 2008. He would move to the NFL as Executive Consultant in the 2009 and 2010 seasons, before heading to the Packers organization in 2012.
Murphy is a former safety and Super Bowl champion, having played for the then-Washington Redskins between the 1977 and 1984 seasons. After his playing career ended, Murphy would serve as an executive for Colgate, Northwestern, and then for the Green Bay Packers. His career with the Packers began in 2007, and he became instrumental in the transition of the team from the Brett Favre era into the Aaron Rodgers era.
Murphy also spearheaded a stock offering that led to upgrades for Lambeau Field in 2012, leading to the completion of the upgrades in 2013. Though Murphy was also responsible for firing Mike McCarthy, he has still been a respected CEO for the Packers.
Murphy announced that he would retire on July 13, 2025, which would mark his 70th birthday. He will now be succeeded by Policy, who has spent the past 13 seasons with the Packers. He initially began as Vice President and General Counsel in 2012 but was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2018.
Policy will work with Murphy on a transition period for the next 13 months, culminating with his working with the NFL on the 2025 NFL Draft, which will take place in Green Bay.
Policy was unanimously elected as the franchise's 11th Chief Executive Officer on Monday following a unanimous vote from the Packers' Board of Directors. Murphy raved about Policy's promotion.
"Congratulations to Ed on this well-deserved promotion to what I believe is the most unique and meaningful position in the world of professional sports," said Murphy. "Ed has been a tremendous asset to the organization during his 12 years here and has been greatly instrumental in our success. His work on Titletown has been particularly impactful. He is highly respected – both in the building and within the NFL. I've enjoyed working with him and am confident he will be an excellent steward for the organization.
With the current excitement of the team heading into 2024 and with quarterback Jordan Love at the helm, Policy will now be instrumental in ushering in this new era of Packers football, with the hope the team can return to NFC dominance.
