Lloyd was selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Packers. The 23-year-old spent his junior season at the University of Southern California, where he rushed 116 times for 820 yards and nine touchdowns.

Lloyd was expected to compete for the backup running back job behind Josh Jacobs but has dealt with myriad injuries since the start of camp. Lloyd missed the beginning of training camp with a hip injury and then missed two preseason games and the Packers' Week 1 opener due to a hamstring injury.

Lloyd was able to make his NFL debut on Sunday when he rushed six times for 15 yards with one reception for three yards. However, he was forced to exit in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.

"It's a sprain," Lloyd said after the game. "I'm doing everything pretty good. It's a day-by-day thing. I'm excited for what's to come."

Unfortunately, Lloyd was too optimistic after the game, as he's now going on injured reserve, meaning he'll miss at minimum the next four games. Without Lloyd, the Packers will need to rely even more on Jacobs, who's tried to help Lloyd as he deals with one injury after another early this season.

"He's been through it," Lloyd said, via USA Today, "and every time I say something about it, or I come up to him and say, 'Can't catch a break,' Josh will stop me and let me know it happens."

Lloyd's rookie season hasn't started the way he had hoped, but he'll use this time to heal and get ready for a midseason return.

As for the Packers, they'll continue to lean on Jacobs, who has a league-high 48 rush attempts for 235 yards through the first two games of the season. Jacobs' backup is currently Emanuel Wilson, with Brooks set to work as the third-string running back.

The Packers will look to move to 2-1 this weekend as they face the Tennessee Titans on the road. The Titans enter the matchup 0-2 with losses to the Chicago Bears and New York Jets.
