According to a recent report from Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that running back MarShawn Lloyd "woke up this morning with appendicitis."
This comes after Lloyd was already placed on Injured Reserve with ankle and hamstring injuries.

While this is already disheartening for a team that has faced multiple issues with injury, it's especially troubling since Lloyd may not be able to play since his 21-day practice window was already opened.
"Since Lloyd's 21-day practice window opened already and an appendectomy usually requires several weeks recovery," Demovsky said, "the Packers are talking to the NFL to see if there's a way he can still play later on."

Since Lloyd’s 21-day practice window opened already and an appendectomy usually requires several weeks recovery, the Packers are talking to the NFL to see if there’s a way he can still play later on.
Hopefully, the Packers will be able to work something out with the NFL and Lloyd could return later this season to play.

Lloyd was selected by the Packers in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 88th overall pick. Since then, he has only been able to play a single game due to injury, making six rushing attempts for 15 yards and one reception for three yards.
This lack of production has been largely due to injuries sustained in the Packers' Week 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Fans were excited to see the rookie running back possibly make a debut this week, but his appendicitis will likely keep Lloyd out for three-six weeks, according to Cleveland Clinic.
While this is very disappointing for the young back, there is still hope that Lloyd can become productive in the near future. Last year with USC, he averaged 820 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 116 attempts. He also made 13 receptions for 232 yards.

Fortunately, the Packers have a few good options at the running back position. Josh Jacobs has been leading the team, having rushed for 762 yards and three touchdowns on 158 attempts. He's also made 19 receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown across nine games.
If something happens to go wrong with Jacobs, Green Bay has Emmanuel Wilson as a backup. This season, he has rushed for 254 yards and one touchdown on 55 attempts while also making nine receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.
In the end, the Packers will be able to function without Lloyd. That being said, they'll be stronger if the rookie back is able to return this season.
