Carolina Panthers guard Robert Hunt has a theory about why the NFL does not have an Offensive Lineman of the Year award and he opened up to us about it.
Speaking to Newsweek Sports' James Brizuela and The Big Lead, Hunt spoke about why the league doesn't offer an OLOTY.

Brizuela asked, "Bills' Dion Dawkins is pushing for an offensive lineman of the year, what are your thoughts on that and why do you think the NFL doesn't have that category?"
"I mean, obviously, we're not a pretty group, I guess," Hunt quipped. "We're not scoring touchdowns, we're not doing the fancy stuff. But, I mean, we make plays. Without [us], it's going to be hard to win...it's hard to play football without [us]. I agree with Dion, man."
The Panthers star continued, saying that he felt players should have more of a say at awards time.
"I also don't think it should be a thing where people see the gold," Hunt said. "And go, 'oh, what's the PLL for..." Let us vote on it, we watch the game, we see who's really doing what they're doing."

Hunt was named to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games as a replacement for Philadelphia's Landon Dickerson, who will be focused on preparing for Super Bowl 59.
Hunt, who joined the Carolina Panthers last March on a five-year, $100 million contract, becomes the team's second Pro Bowler, joining defensive back Jaycee Horn.
This marks Carolina's first time with multiple Pro Bowl selections since 2021 when Brian Burns and Stephon Gilmore mcut
Over the course of the 2024 season, Hunt allowed just 2.5 sacks, was flagged for holding only once, and posted a solid 6.8% quarterback pressure rate.
Hunt appeared in 16 games before missing the regular season finale with a knee injury. His performance helped the Panthers' offensive line take a major step forward after a disastrous 2023 season, with Hunt and fellow free-agent signing Damien Lewis providing the stability and leadership needed.
Before signing with the Panthers, Hunt spent the first five years of his career with the Miami Dolphins, where he was known for his consistency and leadership.
After being named a second alternate for the Pro Bowl last year, Hunt was determined to push for a spot this season. Following the announcement of the Pro Bowl rosters, he acknowledged his growth, saying, "I can't say that was snubbed; I just know I can be better. I was an alternate last year, so this year, I got closer. Maybe next year, I kick the door down."
