The Los Angeles Rams have been linked to a familiar face to help solidify a defense that allowed the seventh-most yards in the league last season.

Earlier this offseason, Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier confirmed that his team is actively looking for a Jalen Ramsey trade partner.

The 30-year-old cornerback has since been linked by ESPN insider Matt Bowen to Los Angeles in a beneficial reunion for both parties.

Once upon a time, Ramsey was acquired by the Rams a few weeks into the 2019 season. The then-Jacksonville Jaguars corner was traded for two Rams first-round picks and a fourth rounder.

In four seasons with the Rams, Ramsey secured two All-Pro selections, three Pro Bowl honors and helped L.A. win their first Super Bowl since 1999.

Ramsey is far from the player he was in 2019 that required a multi-first-round pick deal to be moved, but would slide perfectly into a team and city that he is accustomed to, as well as easily being considered the best corner on the depth chart.

Bowen discussed how aside from the city and team connection, Ramsey's greatest asset to the Rams might just be his scheme-fit.

"Ramsey can still pattern match vertically downfield, and he still has high-end backfield vision in zone coverage," said Bowen. "He would also give Los Angeles more flexibility in sub packages because he can create disruptive plays as a nickel corner."

Ahkello Withersoon, 30, and Darious Williams, 32, are currently the starters on either end of the defense, and both coming off productive seasons. However, depending on what the Rams give up in a would-be deal, it's worth considering what the future of L.A.'s secondary would look like beyond the 2025 campaign.

Cobie Durant and Emmanuel Forbes are also cornerback options deeper on the roster, but will be free agents at the season's close.

With three All-Pro First-team selections, seven Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl to his name, the demonstrated star power alone may be enough to give the Rams a more formidable look to their defense.

Ramsey is coming off a productive season with the Dolphins in which he defended 11 passes, made six tackles for loss and secured two interceptions, while starting every game of the campaign.
