The Baltimore Ravens made a massive move to secure the services of star running back Derrick Henry for two more years. Henry has been awarded a huge extension, which is also a record for a running back over the age of 30 years old.

According to Adam Schefter, "Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens reached an agreement today on a two-year, $30 million extension that includes $25 million fully guaranteed over the next two seasons, per Todd France of Athletes First. Henry joined the Ravens in 2024, after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans. As shocking as it was that he changed teams, he also exploded even more on a team that generally relies on the legs of quarterback Lamar Jackson and a running back committee approach.

Henry made good on joining the Ravens squad, securing 1,921 yards, 16 touchdowns, 193 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns.

It is no surprise that the Ravens wanted to lock Henry up for additional seasons, as he has become a focal point for the offense. Now, Baltimore will have "King Henry" signed through the 2026 season.

The Ravens were eliminated in the Divisional Round of the playoffs in 2024, despite Henry securing 84 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Now, the team will look to get over the hump of not making it out of either the Divisional Round or the Conference Finals. They will need to slay the proverbial dragon that is either the Buffalo Bills or the Kansas City Chiefs, which are the other top AFC teams gunning for a spot in the Super Bowl.

Baltimore has the right team, especially given that they have one of the best running backs, along with Jackson. Jackson is a two-time MVP winner and has become one of the best signal-callers in the league.

With new draft picks coming in, along with free agency pickups like DeAndre Hopkins, the Ravens could be poised for another deep playoff run. Hopefully, Henry can rifle off another near 2,000-yard season to help catapult Baltimore to the big show.
