The Ravens also released a statement on the release, stating the decision was a "football decision."

The statement reads:

"Sometimes football decisions are incredibly difficult, and this is one of those instances.

Considering our current roster, we have made the tough decision to release Justin Tucker.

Justin created many significant and unforgettable moments in Ravens history.

His reliability, focus, drive, resilience and extraordinary talent made him one of the best kickers for over a decade.

We are grateful for Justin's many contributions while playing for the Ravens. We sincerely wish him and his family the very best in this next chapter of their lives."

Tucker came under controversy when a report from The Baltimore Banner was released in 2025 that detailed multiple instances of the former Ravens kicker being accused of sexually inappropriate behavior.

The report sent shockwaves through the NFL, and though the report was vehemently denied by Tucker, the fallout from the report was well-known. He remained on the Ravens roster until May 2025, and has now been officially released.

Tucker has an impressive resume in the NFL, including being named an eight-time All-Pro, a seven-time Pro Bowler, part of the NFL 2010s All-Decade team, owning the record for the longest field goal in NFL history at 66 yards, and having the highest field goal percentage in the NFL with 89.1 percent accuracy.

Tucker is likely going to be able to sign with a new team, though there is no telling if any team is willing to give him a chance.

Back in March, Ravens president Sashi Brown revealed that the team was awaiting the investigation to be over from the NFL to make its decision on retaining Tucker.

"From our standpoint, I think we want to make sure that we have a great understanding of the facts, an actual understanding of the facts, hear both sides of the situation, and that we allow the investigation to properly be conducted and concluded, and make decisions based on the full information," Brown told Baltimore-area reporters at the annual league meeting.

Though there have been no reports on the NFL making its decision regarding Tucker, the Ravens have chosen to move on from their longtime kicker.
