Will The Saints Draft A Quarterback At No. 9? League Insiders Make Prediction

The Saints will have a tough decision to make when they're on the clock with the No. 9 overall pick.

With Derek Carr's status for the 2025 season up in the air, New Orleans could draft a quarterback. However, league insiders believe they will go a different route at that spot.

The Athletic's Jeff Howe had numerous conversations with general managers, personnel executives, and coaches around the league to predict the top 10 of the draft. And when the Saints are on the clock, they believe they will take Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.

"This is another tough one to call. The Saints have been all over the quarterbacks in the class, getting particularly involved in Dart and Texas' Quinn Ewers. Dart could be a first-rounder, but Ewers is more likely a Day 2 pick," Howe said.

"But where do they stand on Sanders? The Saints had a minimal presence at his pro day, for what it's worth, but it wouldn't be the least bit shocking if he fell to them. More likely, according to a couple of executives, the Saints could trade back into the first round to get their quarterback."

As Howe mentioned, New Orleans could address another position with the ninth pick and still trade back up from the second round to take a quarterback, something ESPN's Adam Schefter recently stated.

The Saints need more playmakers in head coach Kellen Moore's offense, and Warren would supply the unit with that from Day 1. Not only would Warren be a mismatch in the passing game, but he could do the dirty work as a run blocker.
