There was a lot of speculation that Godwin could leave the Buccaneers this offseason but the front office made him a priority. Godwin offers Tampa Bay a solid veteran wideout who can compliment star Mike Evans in the passing game.
Godwin has been very effective throughout his career and the Buccaneers wanted to bring the core back together. Last season, the veteran only played in seven games due to injury but he still posted strong numbers.
The pass-catcher put up 50 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns. Prior to his injury-filled 2024, Godwin had put up three straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards receiving.
His best season came back in 2019 when he posted 86 catches for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns. Tampa Bay loves what Godwin can bring to the table and he now stays with the team for the foreseeable future.

With Evans and standout Jalen McMillan in the fold, Godwin just gives this Tampa Bay team even more firepower offensively. Quarterback Baker Mayfield has developed strong chemistry with his wide receivers and the team wants to take advantage of that fact.
Tampa Bay reached the postseason once again last year but fell short of their title goals. It seems that the franchise believes continuity will serve them well so they make quick work of bringing Godwin back.
In addition to Godwin, the team signed veteran pass rusher Haason Redick to a one-year contract early in free agency. The Tampa Bay defense let them down at times last year so the team is banking on the ability of Redick to help fill some gaps.
