Former WWE Champion 'Unresponsive' During California Wild Fires

The California wild fires have devastated Los Angeles and Ventura County. Now, it appears it may have affected a former WWE Superstar as well.

A Matter of Pride Wrestling recently took to social media with a worrying update about former WWE Women's Champion Melina Perez.

"We're deeply concerned as WWE Legend Melina has been unresponsive amidst the troubling events unfolding in Los Angeles," the post read on X (formerly Twitter). "If anyone has seen or heard from her, please report her safe. Any information helps."

"Thank you. Please share."

This sentiment was later shared by Cauliflower Alley, who was also looking to ensure that Perez was safe.

"Reading on X that apparently former WWE superstar Melina has reportedly been unreachable amidst the wildfire outbreak in Los Angeles," they said. "If anyone knows her whereabouts or can contact her it would be a great relief to everyone concerned about her safely."

UPDATE:

Matter of Pride Wrestling has reported that Perez has made contact and is safe during the fires.

"We're relieved to share that Melina has made contact and is safe," their follow-up post stated. "We want to thank everyone for their concern, support, and outreach during this time. Your kindness and compassion means the world to us."

Perez made her official WWE debut in 2004 with their developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). Under the ring name Melina, Perez managed Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury, becoming known as MNM.

The trio soon made their main roster debut on April 14, 2005, on Friday Night SmackDown! They would soon challenge for and win the WWE Tag Team Championship.

After MNM broke up, Perez successfully managed Nitro to the Intercontinental Championship before taking on a singles career herself. From 2006-2011, she would remain one of the most dominant female superstars in WWE.

During her tenure with WWE, Perez was a three-time WWE Women's Champion and a two-time WWE Divas Champion.
