Some 574 million people listened to Spotify this year, and the top overall artist was Taylor Swift. Here are the top 10 global artists, songs, albums and podcasts on Spotify, as well as other 2023 listening trends.

Spotify's Top Global Artists of 2023

Thanks to a record-breaking world tour and multiple album re-releases, Taylor Swift easily made it to the top of the list. Swift earned 26.1 billion global streams since the beginning of the year.

She's followed by Bad Bunny, who recently made the Forbes "30 under 30" list.

Other than the usual songs, artists and podcasts, Spotify also uncovered data about overall listening trends for the year:

• Gen Z isn't defined by one genre. Instead, the younger generation looked for playlists to fit different moods or activities.
• After Rihanna's Superbowl performance, her streams increased by 640 percent in February.
• Pickleball inspired playlists. The sport's rise in popularity was clear on Spotify—there was a 1,600 percent rise in pickleball-related playlists in the month of May.
• 'Barbie' impacted Spotify listening. After the film's release, streams of Spotify's official Barbie playlist increased by 1,560 percent.
• TikTok trends inspired playlists. There were over 10,000 "girl dinner" playlists, as well as a 580 percent increase in searches related to the "Roman Empire" in September.
