Star Wars to Marvel: Best Cosplay on First Day of 2022 San Diego Comic-Con

The highly anticipated San Diego Comic-Con has returned.

From July 21 to July 24, the annual comic book convention has returned after a two-year hiatus. People attend this big event to see their favorite actors, artists, writers and more. Many also like to walk around the several booths that are available, as well as dress up as their favorite fictional characters in a practice called cosplay.

Newsweek has a roundup of the best cosplay spotted on the first day of San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

Doctor Strange

An attendee dresses as Marvel superhero, Doctor Strange. The newest movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now streaming on Disney+.

The Joker

Portraying Heath Ledger's version of The Joker from the 2008 film, The Dark Knight, this cosplayer pulls off an impressive costume, as well as makeup and green hair.

Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer

Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) are characters from Netflix's hit series, The Witcher, based on the popular series of video games.

Boba Fett

This young fan showed off his Boba Fett costume while standing in front of other Star Wars costumes.

The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano, Grougu and Rosalina, Jinx, and Mona

Another family attends as characters from Disney's The Emperor's New Groove. The child on the man's back is supposed to represent one scene from the movie where his character carries the villain, Yzma, in a similar carrier.

Just today, fans got sneak peeks of upcoming movies and TV shows including Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Teen Wolf: The Movie. Throughout the convention, fans will get exclusive content from shows like House of the Dragon, The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Ring and more. Attendees can attend panels to catch a glance at some of the hottest celebrities today including Keanu Reeves, Matt Smith, Dwayne Johnson and Zachary Levi.

In 1972, the comic convention was named "San Diego's West Coast Comic Convention," but the event changed its name in 1995 to what we know today as "Comic-Con International: San Diego." With hundreds of thousands of people expected to attend throughout the long weekend, San Diego Comic-Con is the focal point of comic conventions all over the world.
