Capcom's upcoming Street Fighter 6 is going to make a splash when it debuts in 2023. But before its official release, the publisher and developer revealed four additional characters that will be joining the roster during its Tokyo Game Show livestream. There will also be a closed beta that players can test out this October.
The new characters include Blanka, E. Honda, Dhalsim, and Ken. All of these familiar faces first showed up in the original Street Fighter and its sequel, Street Fighter 2. They'll bring familiarity to the table to a game that's shaking up established conventions for the long-running fighting series. There are plenty of new surprises in store that even veterans will be interested in trying out.

For instance, there are new avatars that players can create and take into battle themselves, much like we saw in the Soul Calibur series. Avatars' moves will draw from the existing pool of fighters' moves, but they're fully customizable throughout the game, even in the World Tour mode. That way, players can create their own fighters and lore that melds with the established characters and story.
As for the closed beta test, players will be able to access it on October 7 and it will run through October 10. It will be available on Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC and will be available for cross-platform play. There will be eight different characters to play as during the beta: Chun-Li, Luke, Ryu, Jamie, Guile, Kimberly, Juri, and Ken.
Street Fighter 6: All Fighters Confirmed So Far
There will be plenty of characters to fight with in the complete version of the game industry's latest fighter. So far, Capcom has confirmed the following characters for Street Fighter 6:
- Ryu
- Chun-Li
- Luke
- Jamie
- Guile
- Juri
- Kimberly
- Blanka
- Dhalsim
- E. Honda
- Ken
Street Fighter 6 is rumored to contain around 24 characters, though the complete roster has not been confirmed at this point. The majority of the fighters are returning from previous flagship entries in the Street Fighter series, so they'll be familiar to players who have been around since the beginning.
However, the 24 potential fighters will likely not remain the only options in-game for its entire life cycle. Street Fighter fans know that additional combatants are always cycled in via DLC and updates further down the line.
So if you don't see your favorite character now, you might still at a later date when they're added to the roster. That's part of the fun when it comes to new installments, after all: which fighters will be added next?
Street Fighter 6 is set for a 2023 release on Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
