Takeoff's cause of death has been announced after the rapper was gunned down in a tragic shooting this week.

The Migos rapper, real name Kirshnik Khari Ball, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 28.

Following an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences in Houston, authorities announced on Wednesday that Takeoff died from gunshot wounds to the head and torso.

The shooting took place outside a private party at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas and police are still seeking the public's help in tracking down who was responsible.

Takeoff's primary cause of death is listed as a homicide caused by "penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into arm."

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said at a press conference on November 1 that investigators are looking to speak with the 40 other people who attended the private party at 810 Billiards & Bowling.

Finner said that at least two people discharged firearms and two others were hit by gunfire but had non-life-threatening wounds and went to hospitals in private vehicles.

Takeoff was "well respected," and there was "no reason to believe he was involved in anything criminal at the time," he added.
