Taylor Swift Gets Mixed Reception at Patriots Game Watching Travis Kelce

Singer Taylor Swift showed up to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs play against the New England Patriots. However, the reaction from people in attendance was mixed.

As is often the case, Swift had admirers welcoming her to the stadium, with one person holding a sign that read "'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play. Hi to 'Tay' from New England!" in reference to her hit song, "Shake It Off."

Others at the stadium, however, were less pleased with Swift's presence, presumably in part because of her rooting interests, which were made even more stark by her grey Chiefs crewneck and Chiefs hat.

One video posted to X, formerly Twitter, featured people booing loudly when Swift was shown on the Jumbotron, despite a quote from Swift next to her image that said, "Gillette Stadium is the most joyful place on Earth." Other people in the video could also be seen giving the pop star a thumbs down.

Gillette Stadium, of course, has been significantly less joyful this year than in previous seasons, since the Patriots were 3-10 entering Sunday's game.

Meanwhile, Swift has had a busy week: After a well-publicized night out in New York City on Wednesday for her birthday, with Kelce occupied by practice in Kansas City, she hopped on a plane Sunday to catch the tight end's game.

Swift was spotted arriving at the stadium by NESN reporter George Balekji, who shot a video and posted it to X of several dark SUVs, with Swift stepping out of one.

Other members of Swift's box above the game appeared to include her father Scott, her designer and close friend Ashley Avignone, Grammy-nominated musician Alana Haim, and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany.

In addition, Gillette Stadium gave Kelce an unintentional reminder of his significant other's fame. As he walked down a hallway past a list of notable athletes and celebrities who have performed at the stadium, the Chiefs tight end appeared to spot a poster commemorating Swift's shows at Gillette that she performed in May.

Swift's shows impressed Kelce's opposition at the time. New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick attended one of her New England dates where she played through a thunderstorm.

"She is tough, man," Belichick previously said. "She just stood out there and played right through."

Swift attended Kelce's last two games as well and made a splashy entrance to both, catching the eye of some of the Buffalo Bills on her way into last week's game as well as fans in Green Bay who were ecstatic to see her.

Both games were losses, as the Chiefs struggled against the Bills and the Packers.
