One Taylor Swift fan was pleasantly surprised when she listened to Swift's new album Midnights and realized she correctly predicted part of the song in a viral TikTok back in August.

Abby Butler, or @flabbygutler on TikTok, posted the video online on August 29 where it received over 2.8 million views and 10,900 comments. The video can be found here.

The Prediction

"This is my impression of the new Taylor Swift album," Butler said in the TikTok.

She then started singing, with each made-up song prediction being based on one of Swift's sounds.

"Yeah cause it's midnight," Butler sang as she tried to give off a sound that was reminiscent of Swift's "Reputation era."

But when the album dropped at midnight on Friday, fans were shocked at how similar the opening line for the first song on the album, "Lavender Haze," sounded.

'Lavender Haze'

The new song opens with heavy drums and an electronic-tinged background vocal and within the first five seconds of the song, Swift comes in breathy and charged: "Meet me at midnight."

In an Instagram video posted on October 7, Swift explained that she first heard the phrase "lavender haze" while watching Mad Men.

"I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool," Swift said in the video. "And it turns out that it's a common phrase used in the 50s where they would just describe being in love."

In another clip from Butler's TikTok, she sang a slower tune with the on-screen text reading: "This is if she goes a more Folklore/Evermore route."

Butler swayed back and forth as she slowly sang "and we're out here and it's midnight."

She also sang a song reminiscent of Swift's album Reputation as well as a prediction for a song that sounds similar to her teenage country tone.

In a TikTok published just 25 minutes after the deluxe version of the album dropped, she shared her reaction after listening to "Lavender Haze."

"S2g this leak was accidental," the caption of the video read.

Thousands of users commented on Butler's videos, with many saying her predictions were on point.

"Why are the lyrics so perfect," one user commented.

"I can't believe you just leaked her new album," another joked in the comments.

"Taylor's going to be filing a copyright lawsuit with the accuracy of this," another commented.

Hundreds of other users commented on Butler's reaction video, with one saying she reached "legend status" for her correct prediction.

"Now predict the next UK Prime Minister," one user commented.

"Why weren't you in the credits," another commented.

"This is why, as I was listening, I thought, 'I must have heard a teaser for this. So familiar for some reason,'" another user commented.

"How does it feel to be so powerful," another commented.

"I IMMEDIATELY thought of your tik tok when I heard that opening line," another commented.

Other Fan Reactions

As Swift trends on social media following the release of her 13-track album, fans are unexpectedly linking Midnights to U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss' announcement that she is stepping down after 44 days in the role.

Swift's fans pointed out that fellow Swiftie Truss made the announcement just hours before the release of the singer's new album.
