A video of Texas Senator Ted Cruz being booed while he is at a baseball game in New York has gone viral on social media.

In the footage, Cruz is seen attempting to leave Yankee Stadium on Sunday where the Yankees were facing the Houston Astros in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series.

As he does this, Cruz is met with a loud boos, while one fan of the senator asks for a selfie.

Investigative reporter and author Hunter Walker shared the clip to his Twitter page on Sunday, and the clip has so far been viewed more than 300,000 times.

"Ted Cruz got one fan and a lot of boos while leaving a tied game in the top of the sixth inning," Walker captioned the video, in apparent criticism of Cruz.

In February 2021. a winter storm, which moved across the southern U.S. with Texas being impacted significantly, resulted in power outages as well as mass utility failures.

Cruz, however, had left the state ahead of the storm to holiday with his family in Cancun, Mexico. Following the backlash, he released a video issuing an apology.

Cruz has since used the Cancun incident to make jokes, much to the dismay of some social-media users. He appeared to support an attack on President Joe Biden's decision to go on vacation by bringing up Cancun.

In October 2021, Cruz shared an official GOP tweet where he lashed out at President Biden for taking a weekend trip to Delaware for the Columbus Day weekend.

In the tweet, a GOP spokesperson said: "Joe Biden has decided to go on vacation yet again. He is running away from all the problems he has caused."

Sen. Cruz then followed up by quote-tweeting the GOP account's post and added: "Cancun is lovely this time of year."

However, some Twitter users took issue with Cruz making light of the controversy due to the severity of the storm.

Other moments from Cruz's time at the baseball game have also begun circulating on social media.

One image that has begun circulating shows multiple people at the game raising their middle finger at Cruz as he tries to wave to the crowd.

New York Senator Alessandra Biaggi also shared the image writing: "Ted Cruz getting the New York treatment just how we like it," on Twitter.

Cruz did not address the reaction from the crowd on his Twitter page but instead shared a picture of himself and a fan at the game.
