California Representative Ted Lieu mocked former President Donald Trump on Friday, with the Democrat sharing on social media that he had a "MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT" of his own.

Trump had previously teased a "major announcement" before revealing on Thursday that he was launching a line of digital trading cards. The non-fungible token (NFT) collection could be purchased for $99.

"MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!" Lieu wrote in his Friday tweet. "We have a limited supply of super cool water bottles I designed. They are superior to tacky Trump NFT cards for 3 reasons: 1. Half the cost at $50 2. Proceeds support Democrats in close races 3. Can't be used for money laundering."

Before revealing his digital trading cards, Trump had hyped his announcement in a video posted to his Truth Social account. He proclaimed that the United States need a "superhero" and also shared an image of himself shooting lasers from his eyes while in a Superman-like stance.

On Thursday, the Republican made another post to Truth Social to explain the "official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card collection."

The former president further likened the items to baseball cards and opined that they "would make a great Christmas gift." He also warned that they would quickly run out, a prediction that turned out to be true.

Newsweek reported on Friday that Trump's NFTs sold out within a day.

Lieu had previously criticized Trump's trading cards, writing in a Thursday tweet: "Dear MAGA folks: Hope it's clear to you by now that Donald Trump disrespects you and thinks you are suckers."

Lieu's social media announcement featuring the "voting rights water bottle" includes a link to the product's webpage. The limited edition bottle is white with a blue cap and has text that states: "SUPPRESS THIRST, NOT VOTING RIGHTS."

The webpage for the water bottle notes that Lieu has long supported voting rights.

"He wants to call attention to laws and policies that make it harder for people to vote around the country," the site continues. "For example, in Georgia it is a criminal offense to give bottles of water to people as they wait in line to vote at polling stations."

Lieu isn't the only one who's clapped back at the former president's "major announcement," though. Even some of Trump's loyalists and MAGA followers have put him on blast.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, for instance, admitted on his WarRoom podcast that he "can't do this anymore" and called on those involved in the NFT idea to "be fired today."

Newsweek reached out to representatives for Lieu and Trump for comment.
