A boss has been hailed a "hero" after letting the office leave early in return for one worker managing to putt a ball in a cup.

Employee @culinaryflaire shared the scenario to TikTok in a post that has since been viewed 3.4 million times in two days. "Our boss said if any of the employees putt the ball in the cup, then we all get to leave the office early," onscreen captions read.

The video, which can be viewed here, showed employees lined up against the corridor of the office, awaiting the decision-making putt. Tensions grew as the golf ball rolled down the floor, joined with calls of support.

When the ball finally made it to the cup, successfully landing in, the crowd erupted into cheers as employees were seen hugging one another and the successful golfer did a victory lap celebrating.

"It was a Friday and he was the hero," wrote @culinaryflaire in the caption. Although he didn't give away exactly where he worked, he confirmed it was a 9-5 office role with a hashtag. In a comment he confirmed they still received full pay for the day despite being allowed to leave early.

It isn't clear when the video was filmed, but the upload fell just days after National Leave the Office Early Day on June 2. It's a non-official holiday created by productivity expert Laura Stack in 2004, which aims to raise awareness of the many things employers can do to increase workplace productivity.

It might be an endorsed technique for productivity, but the boss still drew comparisons to The Office's leading man Michael Scott and his quirky work leadership behavior.

"I feel like this is something Michael Scott would do," joked one user.

Others were left praising the boss and his ideas for employees. "This is how you keep good morale in companies," wrote one user.

"That is the least expensive and most effective employee engagement I've ever seen," added another.

"This energy is immaculate," noted one TikTok viewer. "I wish it could be bottled and sold."

Newsweek has contacted @culinaryflaire for comment.

This isn't the first time the fun in an office has gone viral online. Last year, one office gained over 1.6 million likes for their hilarious prank pulled on the boss.

To celebrate their boss' birthday, employees dressed up just like her, with outfits and shoulder length brunette wigs to match. Their boss lightheartedly dubbed them "freaks" after noticing what was going on and taking a double-look around the room.
