It can be intimidating to bring a feline into the house if you already have a dog because cats and dogs can be archenemies. But one owner has recently shared a video proving they can get on—sometimes.
A video documenting the relationship between a cat called Lamu and a border collie named Moose has gained a lot of attention on TikTok.
The first clip shows Lamu sheepishly walking near the excited dog. The on-screen text says, "How it started," followed by "how it's going," which applies to a montage of clips showcasing their love-and-hate relationship.
Owner India Bulkeley, 31, told Newsweek: "When we first introduced Lamu and Moose, there was a bit of hesitation at first—mostly from Lamu. Moose was excited to meet Lamu from the second we introduced them.
"Lamu had never spent time with dogs and was a bit afraid of Moose. After a few days, however, they became pretty fast friends and now have a relationship that's like all siblings. They love to spend time together, but they also fight like siblings."

The pair are now inseparable as they nap together, investigate the outdoors and chase each other. Lamu seems to run the roost and isn't afraid to harmlessly play fight with the dog, despite being much smaller.
In the comments, the owner points out that Lamu is "really into the sneak attacks," as she can be seen flying into the air at one point.
So far, the video of the Brooklyn-based pets has racked up 4 million views and over 500,000 likes on TikTok.
If you are thinking about getting a cat and a dog, the American Kennel Club (AKC) advises owners to look for a dog that possesses a catlike disposition. This may include breeds that are traditionally used to hunt small game and vermin, just as cats do.
The AKC suggests toy breeds such as Chihuahuas or Yorkshire terriers. But that's not to say a larger breed won't be open to a cat. Social media has shown plenty of unlikely friendships between a big dog and kittens.
Newsweek previously shared a heartwarming tale about a big dog that became "best friends" with a tiny kitten that it found on the street.
The AKC says most dogs will accept a cat into their household if they have been introduced to them as puppies.
While there are many cute online videos showcasing unbreakable bonds between dogs and cats, that doesn't mean all big dogs are good with felines.
"Hounds have strong hunting instincts and are traditionally used to chase game," the AKC says. "Sight hounds like the Ibizan hound, which was originally bred to hunt rabbits, are most susceptible to trouble with cats because their hunting instincts are triggered by their sense of sight."
So far, over 1,600 TikTok users have commented on the clip, and some can't get enough of the pets' friendship.
One user said: "I LOVE cat and dog romances." Another wrote: "What a beautiful friendship."
"That cat has a dog spirit! Aw... they are so lovely!" wrote another.
