A woman has gone viral online after sharing how she handled a man who decided to sunbathe right by her, despite the beach being empty.
The woman, named Kory, known online with her first name only, has gained over 4 million views and 500,000 likes with her response to the beach-goer, who appeared to make her uncomfortable. Kory is American, but currently traveling Europe, though it is unclear exactly where the video was taken.
Kory explained in the viral post that despite the entire beach being empty, as shown in a pan shot of the scene, the man decided to set up base just a few meters in front of her.
"When an old man parks himself 10 ft in front of your towel on a completely empty beach while you were napping and you know what needs to be done," she wrote on-screen.
She then filmed herself running into the sea, only narrowly avoiding the man laying down. Kory even made sure to spray sand over him from her feet while running.
@korynnec PROMISE I’ll make u more uncomf then u make me, also my flat feet grip sand as good as a shovel #baywatch #handled

The man could then be seen sitting up and looking back at her, as she continued to run the whole way into the sea. A following clip showed her attempt to be successful, with the man appearing to move his towel elsewhere on the beach.
Kory's video gained praise online, though not all agreed with her method or her decision to react at all.
"This is like when you're the only person on the 500 treadmills at the gym and someone gets on the one right next to you," noted one user.
"Y'all missing the point. He chose right by her, out of a whole beach. Any cautious person wouldn't like it," added another.
One user attempted to explain the situation in a way relatable to men, writing: "Guys saying she should have moved: this is like when you're in an empty bathroom and a guy goes to the urinal directly adjacent to you."
Others however weren't so sold on just how Kory should have handled the situation, with one user asking: "What if he just wanted to set up near someone that looked trustworthy so that when he goes into the water people won't steal his stuff?"
"He can choose the spot he wants on the beach... there's nothing wrong about it," added another.
This video comes as the latest in an outpouring of popular videos on TikTok that see young women calling out situations that make them feel uncomfortable in public, often involving older men.
In June, Mai Pham went viral after documenting the moment she and a friend confronted a man allegedly taking photos of them at the pool.
In the clip, one of the friends can first be heard asking the man: "Excuse me, I'd really appreciate it if you deleted the photos of us off your phone."
He then can be seen showing the two women his camera roll, in an attempt to prove he didn't take any pictures. However, the friends notice he is instead showing them his "favorites" rather than his recent photos.
"Can you please delete them," one of the friends asked.
"Yes mam," he responded.
Pham told Newsweek that the reason she decided to share the video was "so that other women could see me confronting the man, and hopefully have the courage to do the same if they were ever put in that situation. Also for people to know that they're not alone. I did not expect the video to go viral, but I'm glad it did because it makes more people aware of things that females have to deal with, and for predators to know that what they're doing isn't right, and they could get caught."
