When controversial YouTuber Trisha Paytas on Thursday announced the birth of her daughter, fans were divided over the newborn's unique name: Malibu Barbie.

Paytas, 34, is also known for being a singer and OnlyFans model. She rose to prominence partly thanks to videos in which she filmed herself eating.

Shortly after Paytas posted a tweet about her daughter's birth, the term "Malibu Barbie" began trending on Twitter. Paytas' post included photos of her holding the newborn baby, with the two wearing pink clothes featuring a strawberry pattern.

"She has arrived," wrote Paytas, who goes by both she/her and they/them pronouns. "Malibu Barbie Paytas-Hacmon born 09.14.22 at 8.9 lbs and 21 1/2"."

Many fans congratulated Paytas on the birth of her daughter. But prior to Malibu Barbie's arrival, some had joked that the expectant parent would be giving birth to the queen's reincarnation.

Last Wednesday, September 7, Paytas posted that they were dilated by one centimeter. The following day, the world was rocked by the news that Queen Elizabeth II had died.

Some social media users put the two seemingly disparate facts together.

"you're laughing," one user wrote in a viral tweet. "queen elizabeth is about to be reincarnated as trisha paytas' baby and you're laughing."

"one might say trisha paytas' baby is... crowning," another person tweeted.

But the joke that Paytas' baby might be the queen's reincarnation seemed to make the YouTuber uncomfortable.

As Buzzfeed reported on Saturday, Paytas weighed in on TikTok by saying that she hadn't yet given birth. She continued that all the recent attention had "embarrassed" her, adding that there was "no reincarnation of the queen."

"Ultimately, I was sad for my baby, too—my baby's not even born and she's this joke of the internet," Paytas said, according to Buzzfeed. "Please be kind to my baby. She deserves love and respect."

Many of Paytas' fans have since welcomed Malibu Barbie to the world, yet some have given the YouTuber grief over her baby's unique name.

"No to the name...think about her! She will be teased in school!" one person commented on Paytas' Thursday tweet.

Still, others have defended Paytas over her choice in the moniker.

"Y'all Malibu is a cute name and y'all forgetting she lives in California like pls the kids aren't gonna bully her cause another kid is gonna be named Sparrow or Leaf or Birch LIKE PLSSSSS," another user wrote.

Newsweek has reached out to Paytas to ask for further comment.
