One of Donald Trump's lawyers has said it will look "very suspicious" if some of the midterm election results are not declared by early Wednesday morning, suggesting Republicans could once again challenge some votes.
Christina Bobb, a right-wing TV presenter prior to joining Trump's legal team, made the comment during an appearance on the Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN).
Trump continues to falsely insist the 2020 presidential election was rigged against him, though this assertion has been repeatedly rejected both in court and by independent election experts.
Americans head to the polls on Tuesday in crunch elections—with control over both the Senate and House, along with state-level positions, up for grabs.
Speaking on RSBN, Bobb said: "I expect to know who won by the middle of the night, maybe very very early Wednesday morning.

"If we don't, and if Democrats try to extend the vote, I think they're going to have a very hard time doing it with any level of credibility.
"In 2020 they were able to do it because they claimed COVID. They had this excuse which we all knew was baloney because they had to go find more ballots and do all their ballot harvesting. But I think that's going to be really hard to do tomorrow because everybody knows."
Bobb went on to say it's a "no-brainer" that ballots could be counted by early Wednesday morning.
She commented: "There's no reason you can't have a tally. Let's say there's 4 million voters in Michigan or Ohio and they get through 3-and-a-half million by midnight. You're telling me you can't get through another half million in a couple of hours? It's a no-brainer.

However, the system for counting votes, including mail-in ballots, varies on a state-by-state basis. Results for some states aren't expected to be finalized for several days, despite Bobb's comments.
In California, for example, where most of the population uses postal ballots, full results aren't expected until at least November 15, according to election analysis website FiveThirtyEight.
Similarly in Utah, where almost all ballots are case by mail, results aren't expected to be published before November 22.
Some states, such as Arizona, count votes submitted on Election Day first, followed by mail-in ballots.
In the 2020 presidential election, this produced what became known as the 'red mirage,' with Trump appearing to take an early lead in some states but only to fall back once postal votes, which tend to be used disproportionately by Democrats, were counted.
Meanwhile, the former president said he would be making a "very big announcement," on November 15, during his Monday night rally in Ohio, sparking speculation he will confirm another bid for the White House.
Separately, Republican New Hampshire House candidate Karoline Leavitt came under fire online after admitting her campaign team has "not been paid in several weeks."
The Republican Party has been contacted for comment.
