The FBI seizing Mike Lindell's phone on Tuesday night may not be focused on an investigation into former President Donald Trump, according to the MyPillow CEO.
On Tuesday evening, MyPillow CEO and prominent supporter of Trump, Lindell confirmed that the FBI executed a search warrant and seized his phone while he was at a Minnesota Hardee's fast-food location. While speaking on his show, The Lindell Report, the MyPillow CEO explained that he was approached by FBI agents while in the fast-food drive-thru and told to handover his phone.
While the seizure of Lindell's phone comes shortly after FBI agents raided Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in search of classified documents, Lindell told The St. Paul Pioneer Press in Minnesota that Tuesday's incident was not about the former president or the January 6 riots at the Capitol.
"They said, 'It's not about January 6,'" Lindell told the Press. "I asked them that."
In videos posted to social media, Lindell explained that after his phone was seized, he was questioned by FBI agents about Dominion Voting Systems, which is suing him for claims that the 2020 election was rigged. Additionally, Lindell said that he was also asked about Tina Peters, a clerk in Mesa County, Colorado, who was recently indicted for alleged election tampering in the 2020 election.
According to the Associated Press, prosecutors alleged that Peters and a deputy clerk, Belinda Knisley, were involved in a "deceptive scheme which was designed to influence public servants, breach security protocols, exceed permissible access to voting equipment, and set in motion the eventual distribution of confidential information to unauthorized people."

Following the announcement that his phone was seized, Trump posted a response on his Truth Social platform saying, "Breaking News: Mike Lindell, 'THE Pillow Guy,' was just raided by the FBI. We are now officially living in a Weaponized Police State, Rigged Elections, and all."
Trump continued, "Our Country is a laughing stock all over the World. The majesty of the United States is gone. Can't let this happen. TAKE BACK AMERICA!"
Lindell also shared the search warrant on The Lindell Report, which required agents to seize his cellphone as well as records relating to the Dominion Voting Systems.
"All records and information relating to damage to any Dominion computerized voting system, including any impairment to, or attempt to impair, the integrity or availability of data, a program, a system, or information," one portion of the search warrant said.
Earlier this week, CNN reported that officials with the Department of Justice subpoenaed dozens of officials affiliated with Trump, following the raid at his Mar-a-Lago residence, citing anonymous sources.
In a statement sent to the Associated Press following the seizure of Lindell's phone, FBI spokeswoman Vikki Migoya said, "Without commenting on this specific matter, I can confirm that the FBI was at that location executing a search warrant authorized by a federal judge."
Newsweek reached out to Lindell for further comment.
