Former President Donald Trump attacked a prosecutor who formerly worked on the investigation into alleged tax fraud by the Trump Organization, calling the attorney a "low-life" for his part in the probe.
Former Manhattan District Attorney Mark Pomerantz resigned abruptly from the tax fraud case in February after another attorney allegedly decided not to pursue criminal charges against Trump. Pomerantz called the investigation suspension "misguided and completely contrary to the public interest" in his resignation letter published by The New York Times.
On Thursday, prosecutor Alvin Bragg announced that the criminal investigation into Trump and his business practices is continuing "without fear or favor," prompting the former president to speak out against the prosecutors.
In a press release email, the former president claimed the investigation is unjust and called Pomerantz "a low-life attorney" and a "Never Trumper."

"What the Fake News Media doesn't tell you, and they are doing everything within their power to force prosecutors throughout the Country to do a terrible injustice to our Nation and its people, is that a low-life attorney named Mark Pomerantz, who is a 'Never Trumper' and a Hillary Clinton sycophant (together with his wife), left a Never Trumper, Crooked Hillary law firm, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, with two young associates who were also Never Trumpers, in order to go into the District Attorney's office to unjustly prosecute a man named Donald J. Trump, who also just happens to be the 45th President of the United States, and is leading in every poll to be the 47th," Trump wrote in the email.
Trump accused Pomerantz and two other associates of working for Democrats to "prosecute their political opponent."
Bragg issued a statement Thursday confirming the three-year-old investigation is continuing and cited "secrecy rules," saying he could not disclose much information about the case at this time.
"In recent weeks, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office has been repeatedly asked whether our investigation concerning former President Donald J. Trump, the Trump Organization, and its leadership is continuing," Bragg wrote. "It is."
While still working on the case, Pomerantz claimed Trump is guilty of numerous felony violations and spoke out against the prosecution team for not moving swiftly. Pomerantz said Trump should be prosecuted without any further delay.
"His financial statements were false, and he has a long history of fabricating information relating to his personal finances and lying about his assets to banks, the national media, counterparties, and many others, including the American people," Pomerantz said. "The team that has been investigating Mr. Trump harbors no doubt about whether he committed crimes — he did."
