Twitter Users Freak Out After Single Charlize Theron Says She's Waiting for Someone to 'Step Up' and Ask Her Out

Charlize Theron is an A-list actress with prestigious accolades, including an Academy Award, to her name. The South African talent made the Time 100 list in 2016 for being among the world's most influential people. Her diverse body of work includes Mad Max: Fury Road and Tully. She looks incredible with a buzz cut, with long blonde tresses or her current dark brown locks. And she's ready for someone to "step up" to the plate and ask her out.

Following Theron's request, many men tried to vie for the star's affection via Twitter. A string of GIFs from interested men was posted below a Barstool tweet on Theron's declaration. One GIF showed Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, saying "I volunteer as tribute." A second GIF, of a man rollerblading by in his underwear, read "Hey Girl." Another fan shared a meme that featured Samuel L. Jackson's Pulp Fiction character saying, "S***, that's all you had to say."

Entrepreneur Richard Rawlings asked Rogen, misspelling the actor's Twitter handle, to ask if he would "mind setting a friend up" with Theron. Comedian Travon Free asked his followers if they "know where I can find Charlize Theron."

Theron, 43, spoke about her dating life at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday to promote Long Shot, her new film with Seth Rogen. Directed by Jonathan Levine, it follows journalist Fred Flarsky (Rogen) as he runs into his first crush and former babysitter Charlotte Field (Theron), who is preparing to run for president. Charlotte hires Fred to be her speechwriter, and they soon realize they have chemistry.

An Entertainment Tonight reporter at CinemaCon suggested to Theron that "for the average guy, it's a long shot" to date the actress. However, Theron said she's 100 percent single and interested dating someone new.

"It really isn't. I've been single for 10 years. It's not a long shot," Theron said. "Somebody just needs to grow a pair and step up. I'm shockingly available. I have made it very clear."

Theron has dated Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins and was engaged to Sean Penn from December 2014 to June 2015. She dated actor Stuart Townsend from 2001 to 2010. She's the mother to August Theron and Jackson Theron, who are both adopted.
