A Russian ammunition depot in Ukraine's embattled Kherson region was purportedly destroyed on Friday as the Ukrainian military's southern counteroffensive continued.
Ukraine's Operational Command South (OCS) said on Facebook that 10 armored vehicles and an ammunition depot were wiped out in the Kherson region's Berislav district, which is located less than 50 miles from the Russian-occupied city of Kherson. While OCS did not indicate the precise location of the depot, a video appearing to show the fiery aftermath of an attack on an ammunition depot, shared to Twitter by Kyiv Post, suggests that the strike may have been in the village of Vysokopillia.

OCS also said that 37 Russian troops had been killed on Friday. Russian equipment losses included three tanks, four Msta-B howitzers and a "grad" rocket launcher. A Sukhoi Su-25 jet that was damaged in a Ukrainian attack on Thursday was also moved from the area by Russian forces, according to OCS.
Russian attacks on the village of Zeleny Gay in the Mykolaiv district damaged three residential buildings but caused no casualties, according to OCS. Damage from Russian attacks in Pervomaysk and Shirokiv caused damage to buildings without sustaining casualties, the command reported.
One civilian was injured in a Russian attack in the Nikopol district, according to OCS. The attack was also said to have damaged over 10 residential buildings, a school, farm buildings, cars and power lines.

A Thursday post from OCS reported that 201 Russian military personnel had been killed in the southern counteroffensive since it began in late August, while six Russian ammunition depots, 12 T-72 tanks and a wide range of Russian military equipment and weapons had been destroyed.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a Facebook post on Friday that Russia had lost a total of nearly 49,000 troops since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the invasion on February 24. Of those, 350 had been killed between Thursday and Friday morning.
Ukraine said that a total of 2,009 Russian tanks have been destroyed as of Friday morning, with 12 having been destroyed since Thursday. In addition, a total of 4,366 armored combat vehicles were purportedly destroyed, along with 1,126 artillery units and 853 unmanned aerial vehicles.

Newsweek has not independently verified any of the claims made by Ukraine's military regarding Russian losses.
The U.K. Ministry of Defense released a map on Friday indicating that Russia has lost a small but significant amount of ground in the less than one week since Ukraine's southern counteroffensive began.
Newsweek reached out to the Russian government for comment.
