The saying "you learn something new every day" is certainly true for many Reddit users, who have been shocked to discover that wearing red to a wedding has a scandalous and secret message behind it.
In a viral post on the popular discussion site, a bride has informed other users that a woman wearing red to a wedding means they have slept with the groom.
The original poster u/CrazyJoeDevolaa, earned over 9,800 upvotes, and many users are saying the same thing.
In a lengthy post, the bride explains her cousin slept with her partner but "he wasn't interested in anything more so he told her it's not going to happen."
A few months later, the bride met the now groom and they made it official after a year.

"My cousin recognized him from that night and demanded that I would break up with him because it was gross. And honestly, I did think it was gross at first but the damage was already done. I was in love with him so I chose him. She was one of my closest friends and while we get along OK now, we aren't as close as we used to be because she thinks I'm gross," she wrote.
The post continued and she explained her cousin "made it clear" she was going to wear red on their big day.
She added: "At first I thought she was joking, but no. I asked her not to do it because I didn't want gossip about my wedding and a reminder that "I'm gross," but she said it was the truth. I asked mom what would happen if I didn't invite my cousin and she said it would mean a lot of drama with the family. A war."
To resolve the problem, the woman secretly asked her closest friends and three bridesmaids to wear red.
She said: "I didn't want my cousin to have time to find another way to make drama [and] about 17 girls and many of their significant others also had different shades of red.
"The girls were stunningly beautiful and their significant others looked very handsome. My cousin was shocked and livid because she thought she would be the only one wearing red. She sulked the whole ceremony and left early."
To conclude the post, she mentioned a recent email from her aunt who accused her of "stealing" her cousin's man and being "petty" on her big day.
She said: "I don't agree. I'm happy nobody ruined my wedding and I'm thankful for my girls who rose to the occasion. I love you."
When it comes to wedding etiquette, there are many do's and don'ts, such as keeping your phone on silent and dressing appropriately.
