The Buffalo Bills released a statement on Thursday regarding linebacker Von Miller after a report surfaced about an arrest warrant in Texas.

"This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller," the Bills said. "We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point."

A local ABC affiliate in Dallas reported that police had confirmed that an arrest warrant had been issued for Miller with a charge of assault against a pregnant person. News 4 in Buffalo later confirmed the report with police.

Newsweek reached out to Dallas PD by phone and email, as well as to Miller's representation by email, seeking comment on Thursday morning.

Per the outlets, the incident was described as a "major disturbance," and police responded to a call at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Police say Miller and the alleged victim were engaged in an verbal argument that Miller turned physical when he assaulted her. Miller left the scene before police arrived, according to the reports.

The charge of assaulting a pregnant person is a third-degree felony in Texas.

Miller previously was under investigation by Parker police in Colorado for unnamed criminal charges when he played for the Denver Broncos. Police in 2021 declined to press charges, saying that there was not sufficient evidence "to support a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt, and that the decision to charge is in the interests of justice."

"Obviously it's a serious situation," Broncos GM George Paton said at the time. "But we want to let it play out before we comment on that."

Miller, 34, is currently on a six-year deal with the Bills worth up to $120 million. To date, the outside linebacker has earned nearly $180 million in contracts from the NFL. An eight-time Pro Bowl and three-time All-Pro selection, Miller was the MVP of the 2016 Super Bowl and was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-2010s team. He has played for the Broncos, Bills and Los Angeles Rams in his 13-year career.

The Bills are on their bye week. The NFL told Pro Football Talk it was not ready to comment on the possibility of paid leave for Miller at this stage.

"We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club," the league told Pro Football Talk in a statement. "We have no further comment at this time."

The Bills are 6-6 this season, good for second place in the AFC East. The team travels to Kansas City on Dec. 10 to take on the Chiefs.
