Walgreens is now offering an incentive for anyone who gets a COVID-19 vaccine at one of their locations.

Starting Tuesday, the drugstore chain will give $25 in store credit to those who get inoculated against the virus.

The Walgreens Cash reward will be available immediately following the shot for those who have a myWalgreens account. People without a store account can choose to get a $25 Walgreens gift card following their vaccination.

Parents of kids ages 12 to 15 who get the vaccine will also be eligible to redeem the incentive on behalf of their children.

The offer is valid Tuesday, June 22 through Saturday, June 26 in stores and online at Walgreens.com.

"Walgreens is providing the added incentive to encourage more individuals to get a COVID-19 vaccine in support of President Biden's National Month of Action," the corporation said in a statement.

The drugstore chain said it's also extended pharmacy hours during Fridays in June as part of the National Month of Action, with the "goal of providing additional flexibility for walk-in vaccinations."

As of June 21, 150.5 million Americans were fully vaccinated against coronavirus—according to data from the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC). At least 45 percent of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated, and 53 percent of the population has received at least one dose.

Roughly 65 percent of American adults have received one shot or more as of Monday, the CDC said.

But vaccination rates have fallen in recent weeks, prompting a wave of incentives being offered across the U.S.

In some states—including Louisiana, Massachusetts and Ohio—individuals who choose to get vaccinated can enter for the chance to win a $1 million lottery. Many states have offered four-year college scholarships to public universities, new cars and other prizes for individuals who get inoculated.

Corporations are also offering some rewards to vaccinated Americans. Shake Shack has given out free french fries, Krispy Kreme has handed out donuts and Target will give customers a $5 gift card. Budweiser has said if enough Americans get vaccinated by July 4, it will give away hundreds of millions of beers.

President Joe Biden has stated his goal is to vaccinate 70 percent of American adults with at least one dose of the COVID-19 shot by July 4. But it was reported Tuesday morning that the White House will fall short of that milestone.

The administration announced Monday the distribution list for 55 million of the 80 million vaccine doses the U.S. has pledged to allocate overseas to help combat the global pandemic.

"Sharing millions of U.S. vaccines with other countries signals a major commitment by the U.S. Government," the White House said in a statement.
