A woman fighting for sofa space with her five golden retrievers is making the internet chuckle.

In a video shared to TikTok on October 31 by user @5_shadesofgolden, owner Rachel Vasaya can be searching for a spot amongst her quintet of dogs who have taken over both sofas in her living room.

Captioned "Story of my life..." the clip has received more than 50,000 views from users poking fun at the canine couch-potatoes.

'They Steal my Seat'

Rachel, from Wigan, northern England, is owner of Cookie and Honey, both 5 years old, as well as 3-year-old Jack, and 1-year-olds Bruce and Star.

Cookie was the first golden retriever Rachel and her husband adopted, with the pet "immediately stealing her heart." Concerned that Cookie was lonely, she adopted Honey shortly afterward.

"We had two wonderful years with just the girls, but then I decided I would like a boy as I'd never owned a male dog before, so we got Jack," Rachel told Newsweek.

However, this resulted in more golden retrievers, with Honey and Cookie each having a litter with Jack.

"Of course, I had to keep a puppy from each litter, which resulted in me now being a crazy golden retriever lady owning five of them!" Rachel said.

Although golden retrievers are the only dogs Rachel has ever owned, she can't imagine owning another breed.

"Each and every one of them has their own personality, but they are all so loyal, loving and comical," she said. "The laughs and love this breed gives our family are amazing!"

However, attempts to stop her pets from hogging the sofa are useless. "[They] stare at me with their big brown eyes and get down as slowly as possible," Rachel said.

"Sometimes Jack will ignore me, hoping I go away, I think, but he does eventually move.

"The minute I get up to go to another room, they steal my seat. Even if they are asleep, one of them will wake up and jump on the sofa."

TikTokers suggested that Rachel just accept her fate, with user No12 commenting: "It's their sofa now," while Dave Freddy & Ozzy posted, "You can sit on the floor lady."

"You cannot kick off the floofy babies from the sofa," agreed Xtine. "That's the rule."

"The dog house is yours to sit in," wrote GuySurCan, while Kylie Sharman posted: "I'd like to have this problem."

Rachel's dogs aren't the only golden retrievers to cause trouble. In October, one was caught letting his brother out of his crate, and the video received more than 240,000 views on TikTok, while another was filmed doing the "crawl of shame" after getting into the garbage.
