A wedding guest has been slammed online for asking if she would "starve" on the big day because of the gap between meals.

In a viral post on Mumsnet, the user shared her concerns on the popular forum AIUB (Am I being unreasonable?). She asked if it was unreasonable to think she would be starving at the wedding.

The poster wrote: "Wedding breakfast is at 4:30 pm. Evening food will be wedding cake and some cheese. AIBU to think I am going to have to bring along a sandwich and some late-night snacks?"

With over 400 responses, some people sympathized with the poster. One commenter agreed that the poster would be hungry and wrote: "Yes! At least you know beforehand so you can be prepared with snacks. We went to the evening do of a wedding with this exact set-up, expecting to be fed. We were starving and had to leave early so we could find a chip shop that was still open!"

Another user said: "I think it's always wise to have some type of emergency snack stashed in your bag. It's just common sense. You may not need it, but you'll be prepared if you do."

But many users were shocked and confused by the concern, with one user writing: "How ridiculously dramatic. How much food do you need? And why is it such a big deal to you that you felt the need to dramatically moan about it?"

Another agreed and said: "Starving is a bit dramatic. Order a takeaway if the kind and free offering from the bride and groom won't satisfy you."

The poster disagreed and replied: "Free? It's a destination wedding with the hotel costing the best part of £300. Plus travel. Plus the gift of money."

The Wedding Wire reported that the average cost of catering for a wedding in the U.S. is around $4,000, with most couples spending between $1,800 and $7,000 feeding friends and family on their special day. This is estimated to work out at around $40 per person for a plated meal and $27 per person for a buffet.

Another commenter said: "Wedding breakfast is at 4.30pm. Will probably take you to 6pm-ish and I would imagine will consist of starter, main, dessert and coffee. You'll then have cheese and cake later. How much do you normally eat?! No wonder the majority of the country is obese."

Another user suggested that the concerns may be a little deeper than the menu: "It sounds a lot to me. You sound a bit resentful about going to be honest."
