Wedding Season is the brand new genre-busting show all about, you guessed it weddings, friendship, love, failure, heartbreak, and a whole load of crime on Disney+ and Hulu.

The highly-anticipated show hits streaming services on Thursday, September 8, and is the first ever British original for Disney+.

The series follows the wild romance of hopeless romantics Stefan (played by Gavin Drea) and Katie (Rosa Salazar), who also find themselves at the center of a murder investigation, but nothing is as ever as straightforward as it seems.

Newsweek has everything you need to know about the cast and characters from Wedding Season, in case you do just fall in love with them.

Stefan — Gavin Drea

Irish actor Gavin Drea stars as Stefan in Wedding Season, a hopeless romantic who falls head in heels over love with Katie, a bride-to-be.

After meeting Katie, Stefan is encouraged to embrace his wild side but the last thing he thought he would be doing, would be being on the run and finding himself the suspect in a murder investigation.

Speaking to Newsweek, Drea said that for Stefan, his friends are "his family" and teased the trouble he finds himself in with Katie, which leads him down a journey of self-discovery.

He shared: "To Stefan, his friends are his family and it's kind of the most important thing. And I think what he learns is, it's a very kind of common thing where you lose yourself in a relationship and you've sort of stopped seeing your friends and you get too obsessed with one person. And he has to learn as well to kind of balance that in his life and kind of be good to the people around them.

"This show is brilliant for having at its core, this kind of great group of friends who all sort of certain archetypes of what we're going through. Be it the couple who are engaged in planning a wedding and all the sort of fights and anxiety that causes. Or sort of trying to find somebody because you haven't found somebody or actually being okay in being single and not wanting to ever get married and kind of understanding learning that. So I think the group of friends, I feel like everyone watching at home, they'll be able to see themselves in some version of the friends or Stefan or Katie."

Drea has starred as Sergeant Cooper in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and Eadric in Vikings: Valhalla.

Katie — Rosa Salazar

Rosa Salazar plays the lead role of Katie in Wedding Season.

On her wedding night, Katie finds herself accused of murdering her husband and his entire family, a crime she insists she did not commit. However, instead of handing herself in to the police, Katie goes on the run and somehow convinces Stefan to go with her, with a lot of secrets unraveling along the way.

Salazar is well known for playing Alma Winograd-Diaz in Undone, Lucy in Bird Box, Brenda in The Maze Runner film series, and Lynn in the Divergent series.

Detective Donahue — Jamie Michie

Jamie Michie portrays Detective Donahue in Wedding Season, a tough cop who on the inside is a big softie.

Speaking to Newsweek, Michie teased an "emotional downfall" for his character.

He shared: "He kind of wears his heart on his sleeve. He's caught up in this investigation, which is the kind of catch me if you can kind of thing. There's also we, I mean, we start to see Donahue's layers unpeel throughout the show and we get to see his vulnerability, his kind of an emotional downfall, in a way and also he's desperate to see this case through and get to the bottom of that.

"There's a real heart under there. This show is about kind of lots of different aspects of love, friendship, to see self failing and that's what's so attractive about playing a character like Donahue, is that he has all those facets."

Michie is best known for his role as Dom in Back to Life, starring opposite Daisy Haggard.

His other credits include Brian and Charles, Birth of Daniel F Harris, Outlaw King, and Game of Thrones.

DCI Metts works day and night alongside Donahue to catch Stefan and Katie, feeling the pressure from her boss to close the case.

Harrison can be seen in Back to Life, The Stranger, and The Capture now.

Leila — Callie Cooke

Callie Cookie plays the role of Leila, another one of Stefan's closest friends who just so happens to be his lawyer.

Cooke described Leila as the "mom" of the group and her husband to be Anil, the dad.

She joked: "The mom and dad disagree but we still have a good time."

Cooke has previously starred in Rules of the Game, The Stranger, Cheaters, and Britannia.

Anil — Bhav Joshi

Bhav Joshi stars as Anil in Wedding Season.

Speaking to Newsweek, Joshi revealed when he was preparing to play the role of Anil, he said the scripts were just "so exciting" and will keep audiences "guessing."

He said: "I always wanted to keep turning the page when I was reading them. So it was great to try and you know, to be a part of it."

His credits include Cuckoo, Letters Home, Karen Pirie, Ladybaby, Vigil, Deadwater Fell, and Traces.

He will appear in the upcoming BBC drama Granite Harbour and The Baby on Sky and HBO.

Shan — Ioanna Kimbook

Ioanna Kimbook takes on the role of Shan, Stefan's single close friend whose mother is actively looking for love.

Kimbook is well known for her theater career, appearing in productions of Bitter Wheat, Duchess of Malfi, and Much Ado About Nothing.

Her on-screen work credits include Inside No.9 and Flatmates.

Bhav Joshi as Anil, Gavin Drea as Stefan and Omar Baroud as Jackson in Wedding Season Disney+

Jackson — Omar Baroud

Omar Baroud plays the role of Stefan's close friend Jackson in Wedding Season.

Describing his character to Newsweek, Baroud said: "What I love about this is how beautiful the friendships are in the show. It's so real and what Olly [Lyttelton, creator] has done is create something that really resonated with me, because I find a lot of myself in Jackson.

"I think at this point in the story, the group is coming to the point where it's, we were in wedding season, right? We're going to a lot of weddings, but everyone's kind of trying to settle down and I think Jackson really is trying to combat that and go the opposite way and trying to constantly like poke at the status quo, which was really fun to play."

Baroud's previous credits include The Innocents and Baptiste.

Hugo — George Webster

George Webster takes on the role of Hugo Delaney, Katie's husband who winds up dead at his own wedding.

As the Wedding Season progresses, audiences will get to learn a little more about Hugo's background and who his super-rich family, really are.

Webster teased: "I play a guy called Hugo Delaney who is sort of the youngest member of an extremely wealthy, dodgy family, who is set to marry Rosa's character Kane, and meets an untimely end at the beginning of the first episode. But we got a flashback and see how we got there, and I think throughout that, you kind of see more nuances with Hugo as well as being just obscenely rich, arrogant and awful."

Audiences will most likely recognize Webster as William of Orange in Versailles, George in Finding Alice, and Milo in Tripped.

He has also directed two films: the short film The Punisher: Dead of Night and the British comedy Further Ed.

Wedding Season premieres on Disney+ and Hulu on Thursday, September 8.
