Weird Al Yankovic has opened up about the true nature of his relationship with Madonna.

The parody singer, 63, is the subject of the new movie Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, in which he is portrayed by actor Daniel Radcliffe.

The Roku Channel movie, which is a satire of biopics in general, is loosely based on the parody musician's career, meaning that not every storyline from the film actually happened.

The trailer for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story was released back in August and one of the moments from the teaser that got people talking was the suggestion that there was once a romance between Weird Al and Madonna.

People were so curious, "Weird Al and Madonna" became one of the most searched terms for Weird Al on Google, and now the star has set the record straight.

Newsweek has everything you need to know about Weird Al and Madonna's relationship.

Did Weird Al and Madonna Date?

The answer to the burning question is that, no, Madonna and Weird Al did not date.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on November 1, Yankovic clarified that the role of Madonna, 64, in the film is a heightened version of what actually happened in real life.

While the film shows Madonna and Weird Al getting intimate, this is not reflective of their real-life relationship.

"In the trailer, it was obvious that there's something going on between me and Madonna, so everybody was like, did that really happen? Did Weird Al and Madonna have a thing?" Yankovic said, acknowledging that he was aware of the furor around the scenes in the trailer.

While he admitted that there are "a few little nuggets of truth sprinkled throughout the biopic," he confirmed that his relationship with Madonna has only ever been "platonic."

"The only time I actually met her was in 1985. I talked to her for maybe like 45 seconds backstage. So that's the extent of the relationship," he said.

Newsweek has reached out to a representative for Madonna for comment.

In a previous interview with WYNC Studios, Yankovic revealed that Madonna was the one who actually came up with the idea for him to parody her hit Like a Virgin with Like a Surgeon in 1986.

"She was apparently talking to a friend of hers as they were walking through New York City one day, and she just happened to wonder aloud, 'I wonder when Weird Al's gonna do a parody of Like A Virgin called Like A Surgeon," Yankovic said. "It got back to me, and I thought — not a bad idea, thanks Madonna, think I will!"

Meanwhile, Evan Rachel Wood recently spoke to Newsweek about playing Madonna in the Weird Al movie, saying of the iconic star: "I mean, I've been a Madonna fan since I was very small. The Immaculate Collection was like one of the first...CDs that I had; my mom used to play it all the time.

"But there's, you know, Madonna is an artist that is constantly reinventing herself. And so you have to choose, you know: Which Madonna are you doing?"

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is available exclusively on The Roku Channel.
