The U.S. men's soccer team is set to face off against Iran in a pivotal World Cup game on Tuesday—a match that will make or break the Americans' dreams and determine whether they will advance to the next round.

The match will start at 2 p.m. ET at Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar for what could be the Americans' last game. The U.S. needs a victory to move into the knockout stage and avoid elimination.

The game will be broadcast on Fox and live streamed through the Fox network on YouTube TV, Hulu, SlingTV, DirecTV Stream and FuboTV, most of which offer free trials. A Spanish version will be broadcast on Telemundo, which can also be accessed by Peacock subscribers.

Fans can also stream the match for free using a virtual private network (VPN) and setting their device to a country like the U.K., where World Cup live streams are available for free through the BBC. Tubi will also offer a replay of the game.

Unlike Iran, the U.S. must win to advance. The U.S. has two points in the group stage, but has scored only one goal and has yet to win a game. Iran, which has a loss but beat Wales, is looking to make it out of the group stage for the first time.

The match against Iran is also rife with geopolitical baggage. Iran has been heavily critical of the U.S. team and players' support for the ongoing mass protests in Iran in the wake of the death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini—a display of anti-government sentiment that has not been seen in the country since the 1978 revolution.

On Sunday, Iran called for the U.S. to be kicked out of the tournament after the United States Soccer Federation tweeted in support of the demonstrators. The tweet has been deleted. Then on Monday, Iranian media badgered U.S. players with questions about racial discrimination in America and slammed them for their pronunciation of "Iran."

This year's tournament marks the 11th World Cup for the U.S., whose best performance landed the team into the semifinals in 1930. More recently, the U.S. reached the quarterfinals in 2002. The U.S. women's team has won four World Cups.

The only World Cup match that the U.S. and Iran have ever played against each other was in France in 1998, when the Americans lost a knockout game 2-1.
