Where the Crawdads Sing, one of the most highly-anticipated movies of the summer, is finally here.
The screen-adaption of Delia Owen's best-selling phenomenon is out in theaters now with Normal People's Daisy Edgar-Jones bringing the mysterious marsh girl, Kya Clark to life.
Where the Crawdads Sing not only had the support of director Olivia Newman and Jones, Reese Witherspoon's production company Hello Sunshine was behind the project, and Witherspoon also served as an executive producer.
Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Taylor Swift wrote and performed the movie's end credit song "Carolina" before Where the Crawdads Sing even entered production.
So, where was Where the Crawdads Sing filmed and where is it set? Newsweek has everything you need to know.

Where Is Where the Crawdads Sing Set?
Where the Crawdads Sing is set around the fictional town of Barkley Cove in North Carolina.
The movie follows the story of Kya (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones) who grew up isolated in the marsh after her entire family left her behind, fleeing an abusive father.
Then one day, Kya's father also decided to leave the marsh, leaving her as a young girl entirely on her own.
Avoiding child protection services and failing to assimilate into life in the local town, Kya learned quickly she had to protect herself.
Her life changed when she met local boy Tate Walker (Taylor John Smith), who made his mark as her first and only love. When he left the marsh behind to go to college, Kya crossed paths with another boy, Chase Andrews (Harris Dickinson), who ultimately only caused her trouble.
When Chase is found dead in the marsh, Kya's world was turned upside down when she was accused of his murder.
Speaking to Newsweek, Where the Crawdads Sing director Newman shared her love for Edgar-Jones' character, Kya.
She said: "We've never really seen a character like this portrayed before on screen. She is incredibly strong. She keeps on pulling herself back up again. But she's also very vulnerable and awkward. She has this tenderness to her.
"I think that she's really inspiring in that way and that she's able to be absolutely true to herself and still be quite heroic."
Where Was Where The Crawdads Sing Filmed?
Where the Crawdads Sing was filmed on location in New Orleans.
Audiences may be surprised to know that the majority of filming took place in a real marsh located in Louisiana's Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, and Fairview-Riverside State Park in Madisonville.
Newman shared: "There was no question that we were going to be shooting in a marsh, in the swamp, and on boats. We needed to be up close and get that incredible landscape that Delia [Owens] described physically in the book and we needed to be able to photograph it in all of its real and glorious splendor. But of course, all of that comes with actually having to get out into the marsh and out into the swamps."
As beautiful as the movie's setting looks, filming in a real marsh was not always easy.

"Dealing with all of the elements was definitely the most challenging part of making the movie", Newman shared. "We had to battle with mother nature, we had crazy weather. It was torrential rain, and lightning strikes and every kind of bug bite imaginable but I think we all kind of appreciated that we were getting to really put ourselves in Kya's shoes in order to make the movie. We can't capture that kind of beauty any other way", Newman said.
The town of Houma in Louisiana was used to replicate the fictional Barkley Cove in Where the Crawdads Sing.
The Courier reported that the area was completely transformed during filming to look like the 1960s, with storefronts given retro makeovers and vintage cars placed along the streets.
Louisiana locals may also recognize the Historic St. Bernard Parish Courthouse in Chalmette, Louisiana which was home to the intense court scenes where Kya stands trial for Chase's murders details Southern Living.
