After three rounds of auditions the returning MasterChef contestants have been whittled down to a top 20.

MasterChef: Back to Win has seen the top 40 contestants from the past 11 seasons try to get another chance at the top spot.

The past three episodes have seen the home cooks compete in audition battles, which each round revealing a new set of chefs that made it into the next round.

In the episode that aired on Wednesday, June 9, six aprons were given out after 12 contestants went up against each other in groups of four to earn two of the six coveted aprons.

After making their own special dish for judges Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez and Joe Bastianich, the aprons went to Season 9's Samantha Daily and Season 11's Alejandro Valdiva.

Brielle "Bri" Baker and Fred Chang, who originally appeared on Season 10, both earned an apron after competing against Jaimee Vitolo and Keturah King. Baker and Chang join fellow Season 10 alum Michael Silverstein in the Top 20.

The final round of audition battles in the third episode saw Shelly Flash, Malcolm Green, Sheetal Bhagat, and Gabriel Lewis go head-to-head, with Flash and Lewis earning the last two spots in the Top 20.

Other competitors that made it into the Top 20 include Dara Yu from MasterChef Junior Season 1 and MasterChef Junior Season 5 contestant Shayne Wells.

Brandi Mudd also earned herself an apron in the audition battles, Mudd originally competed on Season 7 where she lost to Shaun O'Neale alongside fellow runner-up David Williams.

MasterChef season 6 contestants Amanda Saab, Derrick Fox (previously Peltz), Shelly Flash, Stephen Lee, and Tommy Walton have also all made it into the Top 20 of the reality competition show.
