Who Is Chargers Superfan Merianne Do? 5 Things We Know After She Went Viral

When the Los Angeles Chargers faced the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, one fan's wild celebrations caught the attention of the cameras and NFL fans across the country.

The response was divided: At first, fans loved seeing someone so thoroughly enjoy themselves at a live sporting event (and related to her devastation when the Cowboys pulled out a late win). More cynical observers, however, noted that the Chargers don't historically have a lot of support at their home games and that a wildly enthusiastic fan going viral on a Monday Night Football game felt a little too convenient, especially in a town with as many actors looking for work as Los Angeles.

So was the Chargers superfan?

After the game, the fan's identity was revealed (with her permission): Merianne Do. Here's what we know about her.

Do Says She Isn't a Plant

After her viral moment, Do made multiple media appearances denying that she is a plant. The first was on The Pat McAfee Show, where McAfee's roomful of employees was split on whether she was a feel-good story, a plant or simply someone with a lot of money on the Chargers.

Do told McAfee she is simply a passionate fan.

"I wish I was getting paid," Do said. "I wish I could make myself AI and as beautiful as I want. At the end of the day, this is me, guys. This is me, crazy mom of four, crazy Chargers fan, crazy fricking football fan, and it is what it is."

Furthermore, she believes passion matters.

"It's got to be in your heart," Do said. "I feel like whoever our coach is, whoever our QB is, whoever our offensive coordinator is, we need to will them to be the best, we need to will them to win, to get that touchdown, to get that first down, to get whatever we need, because our heart means a lot in this world."

Do Became a Chargers Fan When She Moved

After Do made her media rounds, one internet sleuth found a photo of her in a Minnesota Vikings jersey. But Do told TMZ that while she grew up in Minnesota, she became a Chargers fan when she moved to California 20 years ago.

"I don't think you have to be a single-team fan," Do said. "I love my Chargers and I'm not gonna deny my Vikings. At the end of the day, yes, I've been a Vikings fan, I've been through that journey as a Vikings fan and still am, but I'm here in L.A. for the past 20 years."

Do Is a Self-Described Stay-at-Home Mother of Four

Do has (probably wisely, given the nature of the internet) not offered up many personal details. We do know she is, by her description, a stay-at-home mother of four who is just as enthusiastic when cheering on her kids at their sporting events.

Do Was Spotted at the Chargers Game in Kansas City

Do's newfound celebrity might come with some perks. She was also in attendance for the Chargers game against the Chiefs on Sunday, sporting a Buffalo Wild Wings hat.

Buffalo Wild Wings also tweeted her out.

Do Thinks She Has More Football Passion Than Taylor Swift

In an interview with ABC, Do admitted she can't overcome the star power of pop icon Taylor Swift.

"I could never say I could be the answer to Taylor Swift," Do said. "But if you talk about passion for football, I think I have a little bit more."

That might be true, but does Do have a secret handshake with Justin Herbert's significant other? Swift might still have the lead.
