Britney Spears announced on Instagram on Monday that she and her partner, Sam Asghari, are expecting a baby together.
This will be her third child and her first with actor and longtime partner Sam Asghari.
Asghari, a 28-year-old Iranian actor and personal trainer, met Spears in 2016 when he co-starred in the music video for her single, "Slumber Party."
"I was excited that I [would] get to meet one of the biggest artists of all time," he told Men's Health in July 2018. "I had butterflies."
Asghari moved to the U.S. from Iran when he was 12 years old. In an interview with Men's Health, Asghari said about leaving Iran, "I had to leave my friends and family who I was very close with, and I knew I was moving away and never coming back."
His acting breakthrough came in 2019 when he appeared in The Doctors and the movie Can You Keep a Secret?
Spears posted a photo of a pink teacup surrounded by pink flowers, writing in the caption that she had "lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back."
"So I got a pregnancy test ... and uhhhhh well ... I am having a baby," Spears wrote.
Asghari and Spears announced their engagement in September 2021, sharing a picture of her wearing a diamond ring.
In one Instagram post, Spears wrote, "Not only has this cute a*****e been with me through the hardest years of my life but he happens to be an extremely good cook."
Asghari told Forbes last March that his priorities are "to remain humble and understand where I came from and where I'm going."
"I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting. I want to take my relationship to the next step, as well. I don't mind becoming a father. I want to be a young dad," he said.

Asghari and Spears managed to battle through Spears' conservatorship, a legal arrangement that began in 2008 that put her father, Jamie Spears, in charge of all her key business, financial and health decisions. Details of the conservatorship also prevented her from getting married or having children.
After fighting the controlling arrangement for years, Spears finally won the bid to end her conservatorship in November.
In her Instagram post on Monday, she mentioned that she plans to keep to herself during her pregnancy. "I obviously won't be going out as much due to the paps getting their money shot of me like they unfortunately already have ... it's hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression ... I have to say it is absolutely horrible," she wrote.
"Women didn't talk about it back then," she added. "...some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her ... but now women talk about it everyday ... thank Jesus we don't have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret."
Spears is the mother of two teen sons, Sean and Jayden, with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
