Wholesome Reason Dog Stands in Front of Shop 'Every Single Day'

A Dublin store has delighted TikTok viewers by revealing the identity of its biggest fan, and it certainly isn't the type of customer the owner would have expected.

During his daily walks, Charlie, who is thought to be a Chihuahua, gets to take in all the sights and smells around him, but the only place he's interested in is the Stoned Takeaway and Hemp Store. Charlie can't walk past without stopping outside the store and saying hello to his favorite person inside, Paul Keville.

As much as Charlie loves the fuss he gets from the store's owner, Keville loves his daily visits too, and he told Newsweek that it "makes me so happy."

On the store's TikTok account (@stoned.dublin), Keville regularly shares videos of Charlie standing in the entrance, much to the delight of the thousands of followers who love Charlie updates. But on November 5, a video showed the "poor lil fella" waiting outside the store. Keville wasn't there to come out and give him the attention he deserved.

"Liz is Charlie's owner, and she walks him every day, and every single day he drags her to our shop," Keville said. "Usually, he waits outside for as long as poor Liz puts up with it.

"He has generated worldwide fans now. It's great to see so many people from all around the world enjoying the videos of Charlie," he said.

Chihuahuas aren't often known for being affectionate and playful with new people. The American Kennel Club (AKC) website says they tend to be more reserved with strangers. Don't be fooled by the small and dainty stature, because the dogs are very protective of their home and family, and there's rarely a moment when they switch off.

The pocket-sized breed is also known for being highly adaptable. When the dogs become friends with someone and don't see them as a threat, they'll be happy to spend plenty of quality time together, ideally with some fuss or treats.

The video of Charlie waiting outside the store when Keville wasn't there to greet him was captioned "Sometimes I'm not around" and has moved viewers online. Keville has loved seeing the reaction to the clip, which has been viewed more than 1.2 million times, with over 16,200 likes, in a matter of days.

"Social media can be an ugly place sometimes, so it's nice to see so many people enjoying wholesome videos like ours," he said.

Plenty of commenters have praised the affectionate friendship between Charlie and Keville, while others joked that the owner can never leave the store again.

One comment reads: "Aww poor Charlie, he just wants to see his mate."

Another person wrote: "She literally waited 11 minutes for her dog to start walking again, that's lovely."

"That's it! You're not allowed to leave the shop," another TikTok user said.
