Taylor Swift fans may be in for a bit of a shock when one of their most played albums doesn't make their Spotify Wrapped list this year.
Swift fans were delighted by a new album from the "Bad Blood" singer when Midnights was released on October 21. But releasing the new tracks later in the year may mean it is missed off the sharable Spotify Wrapped line-up this year.

When Does Spotify Wrapped Stop Counting?
Spotify Wrapped has been a mainstay of music fans' year since 2016 when the viral marketing campaign was launched, allowing users to view a compilation of data about their activity on the streaming site over the last year.
Showing users the musicians, songs, and genres they have listened to the most in the year, it also includes the number of times content has been streamed in a year and how your activity compares to other Spotify users.

But the much-loved viral round-up actually only counts songs listened to from January 1 to October 31—meaning that nothing listened to in November or December is factored in.
In 2021, Brendan Codey, associate director for Creator Growth and Programs at Spotify, told Newsweek that this was all about logistics.
"We need to QA the site and we need to finalize assets for Wrapped, all of which takes a while. You throw Thanksgiving into the mix as well and we have even less time," he said.
What Does This Mean for 'Midnights'?
Because the new Swift album was released just before the cut-off date for Spotify Wrapped, fans only had 10 days to binge stream the album if they hoped it would make its way to their yearly line-up.
While this may disappoint some, 32-year-old Swift is seeing plenty of accolades as a result of the Midnights success.
This week she became the first artist in history to achieve 10 singles in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with singles "Vigilante ****," "Karma," "You're On Your Own, Kid," "Question...?," "Bejeweled," "Midnight Rain," "Snow on the Beach," "Maroon," "Lavender Haze," and "Anti-Hero" all finding their way to the top 10 spots.

On Twitter, Swift fans have shared how they have tried to trick the system since Midnights was released by listening to the album on repeat.
One user wrote: "My Spotify begging me to listen to something other than Midnights for the last 2 weeks [because] I'm trying to get it in my Spotify Wrapped."
