Here's everything you need to know about the new events.

All You Need to Know About The New Events at the 2022 Winter Olympics

There are seven new events have been added to the 2022 edition of the Winter Olympics, and they were first announced by the International Olympic Committee in 2018.

This decision was made in a bid to increase the representation of female athletes at the Games and for the sporting event to be more "gender balanced."

The IOC Sports Director Kit McConnell said in a statement at the time: "The addition of these new events for Beijing 2022 reflects our continued commitment to make the Olympic Games programmes more youthful and gender balanced.

"I am very pleased to see the increase of female athletes, especially in such exciting, ground-breaking events. At the same time, we are sending a message that the size of the Olympic Winter Games is being directly addressed."

One such sport that has been added to the 2022 Winter Olympics is the Women's monobob, which will see an athlete push and steer their bobsled alone.

While women will be able to compete in the monobob and as a two-person team, men will continue with just two-person and four-person bobsled events.

The reason that men are not being given the option to do the monobob as well is because they already have two bobsledding events at the Games.

For those who wish to watch the women's monobob, the competition will take place between Saturday, February 12 and Sunday, February 13, and it will be held at the Yanqing National Sliding Centre.

Several sports events will also be allowed to see athletes compete in mixed teams, including big air skiing, ski jumping, and snowboard cross.

The mixed team ski jumping will see men and women compete in a four-person team in a woman-man-woman-man sequence.

In the freestyle skiing mixed team aerials, athletes will compete in three-person teams, and it is up to them to decide whether they will be a two-woman-one-man or two-man-one-woman team.

The event, which is set to take place at Shougang Park on Thursday, February 10, sees the athletes compete for points based on the skills and flips they present to the judges during their ski runs.
