A dog has been loving dubbed "sleeping beauty" thanks to her love for slumber.

Wrigley's owner, Ashley Pelkoski, a 26-year-old Manhattan resident, shared the heartwarming story of their connection.

In 2019, she decided to foster an elderly dog or one that had spent an extended period at the shelter. Wrigley, with her beautiful white coat, bright pink belly and brown spots, stood out among the other shelter dogs. And it was her penchant for snoozing that initially caught Ashley's attention.

"She was the only dog that was sleeping every time I walked past her," Pelkoski told Newsweek. "When I went up to her cage, she finally woke up, and we just stared at each other for a few minutes and felt a connection right away. She was special, she was a unicorn, and I couldn't live without her."

After a month of fostering, it was clear that Wrigley was going nowhere as she become a "foster fail."

The term "Sleeping Beauty" was bestowed upon her because of her extraordinary love for sleep, a trait that initially raised concerns for Pelkoski. However, after a thorough vet checkup and blood panel, Wrigley was declared healthy, and her snoozing habits were simply attributed to her need to catch up on some beauty rest.

"I could write a book about why I love Wrigley," Pelkoski gushed. "She is the ultimate sweetheart and gives unconditional love to all, and you can see it in her eyes when she looks at you. She is the true definition of a snuggle monster."

Wrigley has gained widespread popularity thanks to the internet, too. A slide show video of Wrigley shared by her owner on TikTok has been viewed more than 6 million times, and in thousands of comments, people shared their love for the sleepy pup.

"I could cry just looking at a happy sleeping dog," Maddy said. Val agreed and said: "The way she's covered up with a blanket in almost every picture."

"Thank you for giving her this safe space," Kenzo said.

Vklucky said: "She's sleeping safely for all the years she couldn't. You're a good person for giving her this."

Despite her humble beginnings in an Arizona pound, Wrigley now enjoys the perks of city life in Manhattan, with a cozy bed and the love of a community of fans online.

"We have been through so much together...her and I together against it all remains constant," Pelkoski said, reflecting on their journey together. "She knows she is forever safe with me, and we will always take care of each other no matter what. We are both so grateful we get to live this amazing life together."
