The terrifying moment an angry woman began repeatedly hammering on the front door of her upstairs neighbor's apartment has been caught on camera.

Mikki Shae, a 24-year-old stylist living in Orange, California, posted the clip to TikTok under the username mikki.shae. In the video, a woman can be seen banging and scratching at Shae's door with what appears to be a gym weight.

The footage was captured on a Ring door security camera, and is alleged to have taken place at 4AM. It has been viewed more than 2.4 million times on social media.

In the video, the woman can be seen bashing at the door with the object. She starts to move away only to then return and begin scratching at the area around the camera before swinging the object at the door again.

She follows that up by banging at the side of the door several times, before pausing to listen for a response. The woman is seen holding a mobile phone during the incident.

After several seconds of waiting for a response, she begins scratching at the camera once again before striking the door one more time, pausing for a few moments and then walking away. The doorbell chime is audible throughout much of the clip.

According to a caption accompanying the clip, Shae says that all she did was "shut the sliding door" and "flush the toilet."

According to a series of follow-up videos posted to her account, Shae says she got up around that time to catch an early flight. She said that while she was getting ready, her neighbor began banging on the ceiling with what sounded like a broom.

Shae then went upstairs to confront the woman, resulting in the security camera footage. The original poster says that after the video finished, the woman "went downstairs, slammed the door and started yelling."

She also revealed that the incident is part of an ongoing issue with her neighbor, who has repeatedly complained about the noise coming from her apartment and, on a number of occasions, has even called the police about the matter.

Shae has refuted any suggestion of wrongdoing, explaining that the social gatherings in her apartment that have drawn the complaints amounted to little more than her and a maximum of two friends chatting, dancing and listening to music at a reasonable volume.

Newsweek has reached out to Shae for comment.

The incident is something of an outlier when it comes to neighborly relationships being chronicled on social media in recent months.

One other example, by contrast, involved a man who, after receiving a note from the man next door asking to speak to him about his music, was shocked to discover his neighbor actually liked the songs he played and even wants him to turn it up.

In another heartwarming story showcased on TikTok, one elderly man has struck up an adorable bond with his student doctor neighbor to the point where he actually picked up a sticky buns for him to enjoy before he heads off to work.
