Now that we are finally allowed to go on nights out again, we have had to ditch the pajamas and actually think about our outfit choices.

However, if you are a person that often makes fashion faux-pas, one woman on TikTok has come forward with a solution.

Posting to the video-sharing app on June 26, a creator who goes by the name of Gracejohanna revealed how she ensures her outfits are party-ready.

The footage begins with the blonde 21-year-old wearing a yellow satin crop top and tight white trousers.

She then explains to viewers: "Every time before I go out I take a video of myself because I want to see how I'm being perceived by others at the bar."

She adds: "So I'll hit 'play', walk away, then I act like I'm a Sim."

The Sims is a series of life simulation video games, where players watch characters interact with their surroundings.

Gracejohanna gives the camera a look at her outfit from different angles while miming holding a drink and waving at friends.

The woman then concludes: "Then I walk back and decide if I hate my outfit enough to change it."

Gracejohanna captioned the clip, writing: "Really great tip before going out! #over21 #goingouttips #MyColoredHair."

The video has since gone viral, having been viewed by more than 3.8 million people, and surpassed 777,700 likes.

Many people flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts on the hack—and it appears to have divided opinion.

One TikTok user, Lillian, wrote: "Honestly it is none of my business what I look like."

Another person, oatm1lkstan, added: "Girl if I did this I would simply never leave the house."

Claire typed: "Nope bestie we just are better off not knowing. No second guessing."

Ashleigh Jordan stated: "Bye I thought I was crazy for doing this hahah."

Meghan exclaimed: "This is bold. I can barely look at my reflection after I get dressed because I know I'll be disappointed and it will ruin my day lol."

Manny commented: "This is such a good idea."

However, a person called Ataraxia001 warned against the method, saying: "I did this a lot when my body dysmorphia was at its worst and it only made things worse. I know it's difficult but try not to scrutinise."

In response to some of the criticism Gracejohanna then wrote: "Y'all are telling me this is toxic and everything but it's literally a TikTok I thought it was a funny concept for a video. I don't do it everyday."

Newsweek has contacted Gracejohanna for comment.
