The moment a dog tried to hitch a ride with an unsuspecting woman has left the internet in stitches.
Captured on video and shared on Instagram by Brooke Siem from Nevada, the 8-month-old pup leaped into the woman's car, eager to explore and completely bypassing the age-old advice of avoiding car rides with strangers.
In the video, the dog, seemingly unfazed by any sense of caution, jumps into the car door and ignores calls from his mortified owner to get out.
"The passenger door was open for my passenger to get in. Out of nowhere the dog jumped in," Siem told Newsweek. "My reaction was delight. And "I just got my car cleaned," and where the hell did this dog come from?"
The driver filmed the whole ordeal from the front seat while laughing. The text overlay on the video reads: "Just had my car detailed yesterday."
As the owner attempts to coax the excited dog out of the car, she says to her dog: "Let's not get these people's stuff all muddy," as she grasps the determined dog.
In a later comment, poster Siem clarified the situation with viewers and wrote: "The woman is the dog's owner. The dog is an 8-month-old enthusiastic puppy. The dog is fine and was not hurt."
Before long, the dog was back with his owner too. "The whole thing took many minutes, and it was so funny that I grabbed my phone halfway through the ordeal and started filming," Siem said. "I decided to share because who doesn't love dogs?"
While this puppy isn't meant to be traveling with the woman, many pet owners will frequently travel with their dog in the car.
Traveling With a Dog
To keep your beloved pup safe during travel, it's always a good idea to secure them inside the car, either in a kennel-style carrier anchored to the car's back seat or with a specially made travel harness that can connect to your car's belt system.
When traveling long distances, you should always plan for your dog's needs. Factor in exercise and bathroom breaks and ensure they have access to water.
Dogs should never be left unattended in the car as this can lead to overheating and other dangers.

With more than 1.4 million views, the video quickly gained viral attention and people began sharing their thoughts and reactions in the comments on Instagram.
"This might be the best thing I've ever seen!" said one commenter.
Another person wrote: "Dog said, let's go, I got us an Uber. I'm not walking back Susan."
Other pet owners shared their own similar experiences with dogs deciding where they want to go: "I had a yellow lab that would do this! He was so strong he'd rip the leash from my hands and jump head-on into any vehicle with an open door. He was nutso," an understanding commenter said.
"My dog did this to a DoorDash driver once," said another pet owner recalling a similar scenario. "I was so embarrassed."
