A man has been arrested after police discovered a woman's body at home in Australia.
Authorities were attending to a report of domestic violence at Pennant Hills Road, North Parramatta at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The New South Wales Police Force arrived at the home and discovered the body in a bath full of acid.
The partner of the deceased turned himself in to police at Bankstown Police Station on Monday and was arrested in connection with the woman's death.
Police originally described the man they arrested as being "about aged 20, 175cm-180cm tall, 80kg-90kg with a muscular/athletic build[...] black hair, a short beard, and a mustache."
Police also said he could be driving a Mitsubishi Fuso tipper truck, NSW registration MAKKAC. The police later released an update saying the truck had been found in Greenacre and seized for forensic examination.
When the unidentified woman's body was discovered, specialist HAZMAT officers from Fire and Rescue NSW were called to assist at the location.
"Strike Force Jenola has been formed to investigate the woman's death and comprises detectives attached to Parramatta PAC, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad," a statement by the New South Wales Police Force said.
Authorities are continuing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. Police have not released information regarding a motive or cause of death but are treating it as suspicious.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
Newsweek has contacted the Bankstown Police Station and New South Wales Police Force for comment.
Elsewhere, Newsweek reported on an incident earlier this month where a 9-year-old girl's body was discovered by police in a barrel along Colo River in New South Wales.
After this discovery, police charged 31-year-old Justin Stein with the murder of the girl, who was later identified as Charlise Mutten.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison spoke about the death during a press conference. During the press conference he made a mistake and said he wished the girl was found safely.
He was then told that her body had been found and she had been confirmed dead.
"I'm sorry. I hadn't seen that before I came out today. That is devastating news," he said.
"I'm very sorry that... since early this morning, I've been engaged in other issues, as I'm sure you can imagine. Having heard that news, that is just devastating."
