A video has gone viral on TikTok as a woman continues to document her experience living through Shanghai's current COVID lockdown as the city battles the highly contagious Omicron variant.

TikToker @its__rochelle, whose first name is Rochelle, lives in Shanghai, China, and at the end of March began posting about the lockdown that went into effect on March 28—the first since the start of the pandemic, Newsweek previously reported.

Videos coming out of what has been dubbed a "dystopian" lockdown began circulating in March and continue to this week including those from @its__rochelle.

On Monday afternoon, local time, Rochelle posted a video from "lockdown day 10" which she called the "most horrific day so far," in the video's caption. The video has now been viewed over 1 million times.

On Sunday, Shanghai recorded nearly 25,000 new cases of COVID infection on the ninth straight day of rising case numbers, according to South China Morning Post.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began over two years ago, the virus has killed millions of people globally.

Rochelle explained in the video posted Monday that she woke up to "screams" at 4 a.m. which she said turned out to be an elderly woman crying out for help. She said other residents in her "compound's" group chat said the woman was "mentally ill" while one person shared they'd seen her begging for food previously.

She then showed footage of her and other residents waiting in line to get tested for COVID and bags residents had been given by the government filled with COVID tests, medication and masks.

She shared that a neighbor said his tap water was tasting like "disinfectant" so she provided them with some of the bottled water she had.

In the comment section, Rochelle gave a bit more context about what she has witnessed around her. She said her compound was supposed to be receiving a food package over the weekend but so far it has not arrived.

She said she has learned that people in other compounds have had "actual" chains put on their doors with stickers placed over the them. She showed some footage of this in the video.

"I am beyond mortified at this point," she wrote in a comment.

In another video, Rochelle shared a service she uses that appears to be similar to Postmates or Uber Eats where a person can be hired to run an errand. She said she used it successfully to obtain some bottles of water but other requests for bread have not been accepted.

In a video posted from "day 9 of lockdown" she showed that garbage from her building had piled up as no one had been by to pick it up in four days.

In the comment section to the video she also explained the concept of "group buying" which is when residents from the same compound order items together. In a recent order she received 30 eggs from a total order of 3,000 eggs.

In response to a comment on her video posted Monday, Rochelle explained that it is "very hard" to access food outside of "group buying" and even then things are getting delayed.

Newsweek reached out to Rochelle for comment.
