A woman who was shot in the head on Wednesday while lying in bed in her home in northeast Columbus, Ohio, is recovering in the hospital and is likely to survive, police have said.

The 44-year-old woman was shot in the head around 1:30 a.m. along Glenshire Drive, police said, according to WSYX. Police did not disclose the woman's identity.

She told police that she was lying in bed when a bullet came through her window and struck her head.

The woman was transferred to Riverside Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, with police saying that they expect her to survive the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation.
