A woman has been hailed as a "genius" for smuggling a catheter bag filled with alcohol into a club.

In a viral TikTok video, user @madisonshepp can be seen strapping a portable, refillable bag to her shin while on holiday in the celebrity hot-spot of Mykonos, Greece.

Money Saving Expert, a finance information site, has shared more top tips on how to save cash when traveling:

  • Look for free things to do, such as an art exhibition or seeing a sunset.
  • Liquids are banned from airports but the food isn't, so bring enough snacks to avoid paying silly prices while in the air.
  • Download free translator apps so then you can ask locals where the best affordable restaurants are.
  • Download the free Citymapper app to navigate like a local.

Madison can be seen wearing a silk wide-leg jumpsuit that covers the bag perfectly. The viral video has been liked by more than 18,000 TikTokers, and some have written to ask if it is a bag used to empty a person's bladder.

More than 390,000 people have watched the video that was posted on Monday, with the text reading: "living a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget in Mykonos."

The friends can later be seen using the device in a club toilet while it is still strapped to Madison's leg. You can watch the video here.

It is unclear where the women were heading or how much the drinks were supposed to be. But another TikToker has backed up Madison by posting that she spent $3,240 in one week during August, and the "drinks are €40 in most places" (roughly $38).

According to the news site Greek City Times, the tables at the nightclub Destino Pacha require a minimum spend of $9,600 to $19,300 [10,000 to 20,000 euros].
A glass of vodka mixed with a soft drink is priced at $14.50.

While most TikTokers supported this money-saving hack, the top comment receiving 291 likes read: "I could never be this broke," but Madison's response, with more than 1,000 up-votes, was: "Not broke.. work smarter not harder."

One TikToker commented: "That's dedication. The planning, the execution," while another wrote: "Mykonos broke me, why did I not think about this?"

It seems Madison and her friends aren't the only ones trying to beat the club prices, as another TikToker wrote: "My friend and I smuggled 0.6l (liters) of vodka into the club like this..it didn't stop us from buying drinks after it finished."
